Accessibility

We want everyone to be able to use this site, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or voice control. Our goal is to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.

What we have done

• A skip link and a logical heading order on every page.
• Every control works with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline.
• Text and buttons meet AA color contrast.
• Images carry text alternatives, or are marked decorative when they add no information.
• Every form field has a visible label, and form results are announced to screen readers.
• The home page video has a pause button, stops when scrolled out of view, and does not play at all when your device asks for reduced motion or data saving.
• Pages reflow to a single column on phones without sideways scrolling.

Known limitations

The FMCSA SAFER website we link to is run by the federal government, and its accessibility is outside our control.
